The girl stood on the cliff
overlooking the town.
Tears were sliding from her face
but she wore no frown.
I stood laughing far away
no idea what was going on.
And when I finally realized
I wished that I was wrong.
I ran to the girl
fixated in the light.
I found her screaming
his name in the night.
"WHERE IS HE?"
I couldn't get her scream out of my mind.
Why couldn't he be here
like he'd always promised and said.
The girl took a hew steps closer
to the very edge.
She looked like an innocent angel
pirched upon the ledge.
I turned and screamed,"NO!"
into the surrounding meadow.
She turned and looked at me,
then slipped from the light back into the shadows.
