Broken..Heart

by

Alka Almika

The broken pieces of my heart
remain hidden inside like blood-studded rubies
heaped under a lamination.

With thousands fgagments of my heart
each having a tale of its own,
I appear as beautiful as ever.

The glowing mirrors of my heart
creeping inside like venomous snakes
with no stain of red over my face.

The piercing wounds of my heart
are pushed a little more inside
to provide better space for the mask outside.

A Day...

by

Alka Almika

A strange morning brings
rapture of miseries,folded
entirely inside heart
Unless broken by divine bliss
remain hidden like a bee in flower
petals closed, sufferings dumb.

The bright sun-beams falling
upon rosy lips, faden
the charm of fresh looks
Unless soothed by silver words
appear pale like the shadow in night
beauty deprived, smile disappeared.

The calm evenings toll
plight of day's work, tired
humans mourn for rest
Unless welcomed by shouting children
find relaxation like a bird in nest
day ended, journey suspended.

Daughters

by

Alka Almika

Daughters are like beautiful flowers
They must be nourished with attention
As a single stroke may
destroy their beauty forever.

Daughters are like real pearls
They must be treated with love
AS a little anger may
steal away their innocence forever.

Daughters are like dew drops
They must be looked after with care
As a small shock may
risk their safety forever.

Daughters are like images
They must be kept in memory with passion
As their separation may
create a void in life forever.

Daughters are like Goddesses
They must be given birth with pride
As their murder in womb may
end the existence of men forever.

Only if...

by

Alka Almika

The song of serenity
can be sung only if
silence sings
the saga of solace
as sojourn singers.

The forbidden fruit
can be found only if
faith finds
the freedom of forgiveness
as fortune favourites.

The life of love
can be lived only if
loving lies
in luck of lovers
as loyal lifepartners.

Knowing Myself

by

Alka Almika

I know of my limitations.

but what if I still try to cross them?

I am aware of my weaknesses

but what if I still try to overcome them?

I remain conscious of my mistakes

but what if I still try to rectify them?

I am doubtful of my sucesses

but what if I still try to achieve them?

I am habitual of my failures

but what if I still try to defeat them?

I am well known to my uglinesses

but what if I still try to beautify them?

I accept my hard heartednesses

but what if I still try to improve them?

I acknowledge my little learnings

but what if I still try to increase them?

I agree to my limited capacities

but what if I still try to examine them?

I am just a butterfly for my aspirations

but what if I still try to colour the sky?

I may be lacking in womanly qualities

but what if (before being anything else)

I still try to be a human being?

Tears

by

Alka Almika

Tears! Unnoticed tears
Come in vain
Rolling from the cheeks
Disappear in the breasts.

Tears! Unvalued tears
Eat up the sight
Devouring the beauty of eyes
Destroy the charm of face.

Tears! Thankless tears
Sprout from the eyes
Showering rain of salty water
Disclose the weakness of heart.

Tears! Heart-breaking tears
Liquid wounds of heart
Falling undesirously
Eyes shedding white blood.

Death

by

Alka Almika

Death! Come take me in your arms
I’m tired and want rest
Give me peace and freedom
My true lover! You’ll live with me forever.

Death! Console me with your hands
I feel secure in your arms
Blessed with eternal peace and solace
My best friend! You’ll not betray me ever.

Death! Hide me in yourself
I don’t want to turn my head
Selfish love can’t cheat me anymore
My faithful partner! You’ll deceive me never.

Death! O Death! Hold me tight
I don’t wish to go back
Calls of children are short-lived
My only companion! You’ll love me ever.

Love of My Life

by

Alka Almika

I recall those dark coal-black eyes;
Which once stole my heart.

The look capable of describing the feelings;
Words deep incarved in the heart.

The dark symbolizing the vastness;
Internal broadness in closed eyes.

Where else to find that simplicity and care;
In a crowd of handsome complexities.

That possessive yet loving attitude;
In times of crisis, always ready to share.

Born to give company to me only;
Holding my hand for ever and ever.

Making me sick at a little absence;
Having neither rest, nor happiness left.

The very thought of living without, shatters my peace;
Dear, You're the love; the very breath of my life !

Ray of Love

by

Alka Almika

The bright and beautiful ray of love
Brightens both body and soul just as
The single touch of sunlight
Changes the colour of hills and rivers.

Coming together opens new vistas;
Impossible goals appear within reach just as
Dreamlike dim and distant horizon
Looks like meeting place of Earth and Sky.

Tears of one’s eye falling from another’s;
One arrow piercing the heart of both just as
The weight put on one part of balance
Moves the other one automatically.

Separation becomes unbearable;
An empty loneliness among crowd just as
Islands surrounded by huge ocean
Yet isolated to touch the boundary of other.

Love is life, hope and inspiration;
This ‘Pranvayu’ can rekindle the dying spirit just as
‘Sanjeevni’ has power to survive the dead,
But the dying needs a companion to get it.

Lingering Love

by

Alka Almika

Love remains lingering in mind always
Even the least work of life is not without it.
Little moments of joy bring liveliness in house
With Love, people enjoy even the sitting together
Silence speaks though the eyes of lovers
Vows of love are committed without ever opening the lips.
The language of love is indefinable but easily understood
By those who practice it in the core of their heart.
It dwells not in the deep dungeon of distant world
Peeping into the eyes can easily declare its presence.
