A Halloween Tale

by

Sherry L. Allen

Now listen little children to a story that is true, It's about a wicked witch and a ghost named Boo, This witch was evil and mean as could be, and Boo was sweet like you and me, Her name was Trixie and she rode a big broom, And she always scared Boo when he came into the room, She had grey hair and a wart on her nose, With big long fingernails and a cat named Toe's, Yet the ghost named Boo was friendly to all. And loved playing games especially kick ball, And all of the children loved playing with him, They laughed to themselves when he snuck into the gym, For no one can see ghost's but Boo did'nt know, He practiced playing kickball then off he would go, So why could the children see Boo you might ask, Cause when he flew through the air he was wearing a mask, That silly old ghost did'nt know he was'nt seen,He just wore the mask because it was Halloween, When Boo realized that no one could see, It made him very sad just as sad as could be, The children were worried that Boo might leave, They had decided a way to make him believe, They all got together and came up with a plan, Each child pitched in to lend a helping hand, They got out the mask that Boo threw away, And made him a costume to wear the next day, For it was Halloween they wanted Boo to go along, To go trick or treating and help sing a scary song, Old Boo saw the costume and then he realized, If he wore it out on Halloween there would be a big surprise, When he flew through the air everyone could see, His costume would be floating but where would Boo be, It would be such fun cause the children would all know, That Boo was above them scaring all who were below, The old witch named Trixie was watching old Boo, She was geting mad cause she wanted fun too, I'll fix that old ghost she thought with an evil grin, I'll cast a mean spell and put and end to him, I'll fix all the children I'll make a special brew, It will make them all so mean they won't know what to do, Go fetch my broom she said to Toe's the cat, Bring me my cape and go get my hat, we've lots of work to do on this Halloween night, We're going to give everyone a terrible fright, I'll put an end to their fun and show them who is queen, Yes I will put a stop to this year's Halloween, Well Boo and the children were all having fun, Collecting lots of candy and scaring everyone, As they looked up to the sky they saw a full moon, That's when they spotted Trixie she was riding on her broom, When Boo looked up and saw her he gave a raspy sigh, For Trixie was coming closer as her broom flew by, He saw that old Toe's was on the back of Trixie's broom, And knew that trouble was coming and it was coming soon, He was thinking to himself as she circled them all, I have to do something where is my kick ball, Soon one of the children yelled down from below, I have one Boo then gave a mighty throw, Old Boo caught the ball with time for one shot, He circled around just ot find the right spot, He threw up the ball and took aim with his head, And hit the witch Trixie he thought she was dead, She fell from her broom with a terrible thump, Then hit the ground hard her head had a lump, Then poor old Toe's yelled out to them all, Why in the world did you have to make me fall, The children felt sorry for the witch was a mess, And the cat named Toe's did not look his best, Old Trixie got up and then said to Boo, I'm sorry I scared you are you sorry too, I meant no real harm I just got so mad, You were having such fun and that made me sad, Then Boo came over and said with a grin, You promise me now this won't happen again, Old Trixie replied as the children drew near, I promise you now there will be no more fear, So off they all went on Halloween night, To help the old witch set everything right, Old Boo and the witch with Toe's riding near, Went trick or treating with the children each year.

A Simple Scene

I'm looking out my window from the chair I'm sitting in, My eyes are now beholding beauty I have found within, A ray of light upon the snow the look of fire on ice, a glorious white bed of so much clean my senses are enticed, The cold is there and limbs bow down from trees who lie in rest, for they bare gifts three seasons long a mighty sort of test, That's all I see as I sit here my heart seems so at peace, I think I like this place I've found I pray it shall not cease, As yet I yearn for a new season be it what it may, I'll take it as my own to make and fill my glorious day.

We watched that morn in utter awe our eyes so filled with tears, As Satan struck a mighty blow and stirred our inner fears, And all our hopes our dreams and love were mixed inside our hearts, Our hope for peace and worldwide trust these things were torn apart. Blue skies were turned a smokefilled grey as the mighty towers fell, So many hero's rushing in to face this roaring hell, No thoughts of safety in their minds just helping all in need,

We watched that morn in utter awe our eyes so filled with tears, As Satan struck a mighty blow and stirred our inner fears, And all our hopes our dreams and love were mixed inside our hearts, Our hope for peace and worldwide trust these things were torn apart. Blue skies were turned a smokefilled grey as the mighty towers fell, So many hero's rushing in to face this roaring hell, No thoughts of safety in their minds just helping all in need, And some will never know the love for their courageous deed. You've taken Mother's from their children Father's from their sons,
Sister's from their brother's too and life from little one's, You've taken lives away from love and left us all to grieve, Our sorrow great with all we've lost so many made to leave. Such horror witnessed that fateful day as freedom fell from the sky, As those bitter tears filled all our eyes so many asking why, While you such cowards flee in fear from all your heinous deeds, How dare you think your hatred here will fill your sinful needs. Your goal to tear us all apart was not to be that day, Though you may try so many times you'll find there is no way, For we are strong and you are weak though your
actions caused us pain, The heartless methods you bestow will fail you once again. We give our Country all our love our strength empowers her, Our pledge of patience true of heart our hope will not deter, Our freedom lies within her soul for all to witness now, And those who try to make us fall to them we shall not bow. So all your efforts are lost you see for we stand tall and proud, United all we are as one our voice heard strong and loud, Your horrid acts have failed your cause you've succeeded at just one thing, To bring American's closer still our freedom shall forever ring. You lack the courage to face your deed and this has made us strong, We all unite to hunt you do
wn put you where you belong, Your acts of cowardness will soon be answered may God have mercy on you, For you have yet to face the wrath of our Red White and Blue.

One More Time

by

Sherry L. Allen

The fires inside me burn so fierce I feel my heart will burst, Not knowing how to calm the flames or quench this hungry thirst, So many fears not knowing why seem locked deep down inside, And closet doors their keys are lost no place for me to hide, To try once more and face my thoughts just sort them one by one, Take all the time I've spent with them walk slowly then I'll run, The power I need to overcome lies in my hands alone, Desires to capture all life holds still here were never gone.

Quietly

I see the wisdom in your eyes the years have given you, Dark secrets shared with no one else seen from your point of view, All treasures gained from days gone by are yours and yours alone You've got your special hiding place so deep but never gone, We seek to share our thoughts with you, you listen silently, absorbing all we say to you while waiting patiently, And all the words we need to hear from you just seem to flow, The love I have for you dear Dad in my heart and soul will grow.

Goodnight

by

Sherry L. Allen

As day turns to night in a moment it may seem, life now turns to slumber and a wonderful dream, sometimes they come in color sometimes they come at rest, the dream shall continue filled with all oflife's best, perhaps a thought or look you gave, you hold so dear you now must save, will come to you as you lie now, and sleep overtakes your dream somehow, yet just the moment before you wake, you hold the dream the catcher shall take, to hold in time for ever more, the memory left, you now adore.

What a Life

by

Sherry L. Allen

The grass pokes through the hardened earth,a tree looks down at such great girth, the flower tries to catch the sun,as butterflies get on the run, I think that spring has shown her face, all living things now change their pace, they shed their winter to wear the new, so proudly displayed for all to view, each one a picture for us all, a rose so red a tree so tall, the pleasence of the day enhanced, to give them all one final glance.

Time to Go

by

Sherry L. Allen

I lie here barely breathing my pulse is growing weak, my final hour is nearing to God I now must speak, what can I say for he knows all I'm thinking to myself, where are my words please bring them to me, from my empty shelf, I've thought a thousand times, of what I'd do this day, I'd have the words I needed and would know just what to say, Though yet I feel somewhat betrayed I'll have to trust in him, I dare not speak of words made up, just upon a whim, I soon grow tired my eyes near closing for my final night, I feel at peace with no more thoughts for he will make it right, I should have known this in my heart but still there lie some doubt, He takes me home to live with him my light is now turned out.

Missing You

by

Sherry L. Allen

This man I called my Dad just up and left one day, A pain so deep inside my soul it will not go away, a loss that left me on my own to tend my lonely heart, I never dreamed there'd be a day that we would be apart, I miss your face when you would smile at me so tenderly, I miss your words that comforted me I just can't let it be, My life 's so empty without you here and I am trying to, stop shedding tears and live my life the way you'd want me to.
