White Horses

I lay on the sand
the wind rustling through the trees.
As the sun sets it casts a reddish glow
on the ocean.
The waves crash against the sand
like thousands of white galloping horses.

Where do they come from?
Where do they go?

I do not know.

Like convicts doing time the waves are forever
thumping against the shore
like a never-ending heart-beat.
