This is a movie to remember.

There have been a lot of unoriginal horror movies being released recently, but FInal Destination was very original for its year, 2000. Every time an original movie is released, companies have the need to trash it by having a lot of sequels and remaking it. This is a movie to remember.

The story is original and interesting. It is about a group of student going on a trip to France by airplane and one of them has a premonition of the plane blowing up, but saves his friends and teacher last second. From then on, Death is coming to kill them with freak accidents in the order in which they were meant to be killed. It is a fun guessing-movie in which the audience is always guessing who will die from what harmless item. As soon as this was released, I was interested.

Looking back at this movie, I see a famous actress named Ali Larter. She had brown hair at the time. Now she has blonde hair and it is interesting to see where she was at that time. Overall, the cast was picked well and each actor did his or her job well.

The first of a series is obviously going to be the one with the lowest budget. The camera that is used is not a professional camera, but the explosions and effects look real. Visuals do not disappoint in this film.

Overall, Final Destination is a classic. It is fun, original, and entertaining. Each time something is about to happen, the audience is overwhelmed by thoughts of what exactly is going to happen next. If you have not seen Final Destination, then run to Blockbuster and rent this immediately.

When seeing a movie of any genre, the audience is expecting to be entertained. This is why the most popular movie genres are action and adventure films. It is never expected that a film will be strong enough to make you see life differently or make you emotionally disturbed. However, Requiem For A Dream is this exactly.

This movie is mostly focusing on the subject matter and does not dwell on unneeded filler material. It is about two different stories and different addictions to drugs. As each minute passes, it begins to get more serious and shocking. It is a very deep topic which does not seem to stop most people from doing drugs. This movie shows the effects of drugs such as heroine, and shows them in action and what they do to people. Not only was the story great, but it was written extremely well.

There are some great actors in Requiem For A Dream. Ellen Burstyn, Jared Leto, Jennifer Connelly, and Marlon Wayans all give ground-breaking performances. They make the situations believable and show the true colors of people on drugs. This movie would not be what it was without these actors and they each brought something to the table.

In this movie, there aren't special effects, but eye-popping photography. There are clips of how the heroine and pills are taken in the body and catch it on film in a very artistic style. Despite how disturbing it is, the photography managed to make it look beautiful. The visuals are shown in a creative way giving a lot of style to the film.

Overall, Requiem For A Dream is one of the most disturbing movies I have seen about drugs. It is the type of movies that will stay with you for days and will make you see how drugs ruin lives. For those looking for a perfectly made film with a lot of creativity, Requiem For A Dream is the one to see.

Wednesday: Wanted

Wanted is the type of movie you can watch over and over...

Within the past few years there have been a lot of super hero movies. Most of them are not good movies, but do entertain the audience and have spectacular effects. Wanted is not a super hero film, but is pretty close.

Wanted is about a man who has a boring life and is getting sick of it. He finds out that he has the ability to curve bullets and joins a team of assassins who have the same ability. The movie has a lot more character development than story, but the story that is shown is not that bad.

There are some well-known actors in this movie. Angelina Jolie plays one of the assassins, Morgan Freeman plays the boss of them, and James McAvoy plays the main character. James has not been in a lot that people really recognize him from. I was able to spot him from a horror film from 2001 called Swimming Pool. There is not one actor in this movie who did not give his or her character depth. There is always something new to learn about these interesting characters throughout the movie and each actor did a great job.

It should be obvious what the visuals were like. They were stunningly realistic. Each and every bullet looked great and nothing looked fake or cheesy. Just like every other big budget action film out there, this has some strong visual effects.

Overall, Wanted is an action film for older audiences. It has a lot of blood from bullet wounds, but otherwise there is not very much nudity or anything else like that. I do not usually watch movies more than once or twice, but Wanted is the type of movie you can watch over and over and never get bored with it. Wanted is recommended for a rental and most likely later a purchase.

Thursday: The Happening

Stay away, far away, from The Happening

M. Night Shyamalan is a very well known director all over the world. He has given the film The Sixth Sense that everyone knows and most love. A lot of the public was excited to see what Shyamalan would come up with next. Unfortunately, it was not something good.

The story is about a family getting into a crisis that threatens everybody on earth. Everybody begins to commit suicide for no reason and it up to the main character, Mark Wahlberg, to figure out what is happening and to stop it. I heard about it and thought it sounded promising, but the movie drove it in the complete opposite direction. It became stupid and even became a parody of itself, unintentionally. It seems M. Night should start working harder to write a decent script for his next film.

The acting is mediocre, at best. Mark Wahlberg is a great actor, but I don't see him trying in this movie. He looked and sounded like he was forced to do the movie unwillingly. This just added to how unbelievable the situations were, but expected a bit more out of this cast.

There are not many visuals used in The Happening. Large amounts of wind is blown and there are a couple gruesome deaths in there, but nothing big. The visuals that are shown in this movie are alright for what they were.

Overall, The Happening is a sad excuse for a movie. After seeing this lousy movie, I wanted to get my money back, but I couldn't. I felt incredibly ripped off with this garbage. The reason for the suicide waves is ridiculous and silly. If you are looking for a good thriller, look elsewhere, this is one of the worst films I have seen in recent years. Stay away, far away, from The Happening.

...a silly story...an awful movie...

When people go to see a movie, they have to be in the mood for the type of movie they are about to see. I wanted to see The Mutant Chronicles ever since the trailer came out. I like Thomas Jane and it sounded like a genuinely fun movie.

The premise of this movie is about a group of soldiers who are teamed up to get to the middle of the earth to kill off the mutants that have taken over the earth. It is a silly story, but this was not the reason I wanted to see this movie.

I saw the trailer and thought it looked like fun. I saw that Thomas Jane was going to star in it and that is what sealed the deal. I was highly disappointed by the acting in this film. Thomas Jane is a great actor, as seen in The Mist and the HBO series Hung. Every actor acted like they were starring on a Sci-Fi Channel movie. This was the first time Thomas Jane has disappointed me.

I understand that this movie os a low-budget film, but this is ridiculous. The special effects and green screen looked very fake. In fact, nothing in this movie looked real. Everything looked like a child's home movie. The blood was all CGI and none of it even looked like live action blood. There were terrible visuals throughout.

Overall, The Mutant Chronicles is an awful movie. It is very boring. I even fell asleep at a few parts. It took three times watching it to get through the entire movie. This has to be the worst limited released movie I've seen to date. Stay far away from this movie and let it collect dust on the Blockbuster shelves where it belongs.
