For people who just see the trailer, it won't appeal to all audiences. It is an "adult" thriller that will most likely appeal only to adults (or mature teenageers!). It is a beautiful movie that compels the viewer and gives them a journey of laughing, crying, and clapping.The story was based on a true story. I did research on the incident and it seems to have followed the true story for the most part. There were some things that are exaggerated, but any movie will do this to spice it up a bit. The story was never confusing and always keeps the viewers just where the producers want them; on the edges of their seats.
The acting was simply incredible. Angelina Jolie performs one of her best roles. In this situation, she makes it seem like any normal woman, no matter how good a person she is, can crack under the pressure. If you are looking for a movie with perfect acting, this is a movie to check out.
This movie takes place in Los Angeles, in 1928. I looked at pictures on Google images after I saw this movie and it captured the look of Los Angeles at the time perfectly. It never went ahead of time, technology-wise, and it was obvious the writers knew exactly what they were talking about. It also shows that the cinematographer really knew what he was doing.
Overall, it was a real ride. It felt long in some parts, but there was always something going on. Don't do work or talk while watching this, you will not understand what you are watching. Give it all the attention you have and I guarantee you won't be disappointed. Easily recommended.

Everybody has people he or she gets movie suggestions from. I will not be seeing any more based on what the online reviewer at Blockbuster tells me. Make sure you have the same taste in movies as the person from whom you are getting movie suggestions before fully trusting them. This movie just proves I will not be asking this guy for advice anymore.The story is simple and begins very well. After 20 minutes pass, the story twists and turns into odd places. It begins to get very cheesy and laughable, since they have the old time machine ramble in this movie. It was a creative idea, but a very bad execution of it.
When you have actors in a horror movie, you always want them to be smart. Not only smart, but realistic, and you want them to live through it! In this movie, I could not care less if the main character lived or died. I'm not sure if it was the writing of the characters or if it was the actors, but there were too many wrong things going on. I stopped caring about what happens to the characters 40 minutes into the movie
The visuals were decent, but did not really capture the houses. I think they could have given better lighting and a more vibrant pictures to represent Spain, since it is a very beautiful country. It seems like the cinematographer did a half job and just got lazy.
Overall, this movie is not for everybody, and especially not for me. I truly thought it was a waste of time and that it was just pathetic. The ending is obvious and the characters are not interesting. Skip this one and keep looking on the shelves at Blockbuster for something that will keep you entertained for more than 20 minutes.

Almost a year before this movie was released I met the director and the actors at a convention. I got to see a few clips that would not be released online for another month or so and thought it looked interesting. It didn't look like your average werewolf and vampire movie. The story was cliché, but I did not see this for the story. If you believe every movie has to have a good story, this is not for you. Underworld steals bits from every vampire and werewolf movie you have ever seen.
The acting was average,. Kate Beckinsale and Scott Speedman were veing the only decent thing to happen to movie. If they were not in it, this movie would be completely lost in this department.
There is only one thing in this movie that is above average, and that is the visuals. They give a beautiful blue tint to every second of the film. It gives us our atmosphere with a dark background and really gibes the screen a nice look. The man who worked on this did his job, but does not mean the rest of the people did.
Overall, it was an all right movie. It is a movie I would rent on Blu-Ray, but never go to see in theaters. If I got to see it for free, I would still see it, but would not pay any money for it. If you really like to see vampires and werewolves fighting, then you are most likely to like this movie. I just thought it was clichéd and not very interesting. This is what a mediocre film looks like.
