Observe and Report is another movie to pick up the mall cop idea. This time, Seth Rogan (the new teen favorite actor) is the cop. Right off the bat, this is what gave the movie its hype. The trailers made everyone either turned off or extremely excited. I was with the extremely excited group.Knowing that Seth Rogan is in this makes everyone expect a Knocked Up flick. Don't expect a Superbad or a Knocked Up movie. It is a fairly serious subject and movie. It deals with bipolar, medicine, alcoholism, and anger issues. When the movie discusses these issues, it isn't making run of themt, it is being serious. Putting this into a category, it is a drama. Don't let that turn you off of the movie, though.
It is still a great film to watch. There are still Superbad type scenes, especially at the beginning. This film doesn't just have comedy, but violence as well. There are scenes such as breaking elbows, beating cops with a flashlight, and a few scenes with pools of blood.
An important thing is to not take this movie too lightly. There are not too many laughs in this movie, but any Seth Rogan fan should be pleased with this. If you saw Paul Blart's Mall Cop and thought it would be like that, it's not. This is mall cop movie like no other. It is a deep, but entertaining movie. This is not something to see more than once, but it is still recommended.

Just like any “true story” it begins the movie saying it is a true story. Right from the start the atmosphere is set. That atmosphere happens to be terror, dark and faded. There are good things about the movie, but quite a few flaws.Even though this is a horror movie with most of the cast being unknown, the acting was decent. It seemed realistic and the emotions were very deep, only one or two flat lines were delivered. The visuals were great, very rich and realistic looking. Explosions, exorcisms and the cinematography were all great. The best things in this movie were the jump scares.
Some of those consisted of men appearing in mirrors, someone almost being strangled by a shower curtain and flashbacks popping up. A few of them are already known from other films, but don't let that turn you off. They are edited at the perfect moment and will scare you even if you have seen that scare before. For every good thing, there is a bad thing. That one thing is that the movie relied too much on scares rather than characters. Around 95% of the movie was jump scares to creep you out, some of which were bad scares. Obviously, most of the scares were worthy.
Overall, this movie is interesting and extremely creepy. This will make you look around when you hear bumps in the night. If you enjoyed The Amityville Horror or House on Haunted Hill you are sure to like this one. I advise once the movie has ended, don't leave the theater yet. There are pictures of the “real” cop-taken photos. In ways some of those photos were more disturbing than the movie. Just like any haunted house movie, it will not be Oscar-worthy, but is worth going to see.

Within the past few months, I have been looking for a good thriller that will creep me out, with no blood, to see if the creators can pull it off. The movie Obsessed did a pretty good damn job of it. Anybody who has had a psycho girlfriend/boyfriend could understand this on some level. This movie just takes stalking to the next level, such as sneaking into your house, lying to the baby sitter, and taking your child, almost as a ransom for you.
The acting was OK. The main people who shined were Ali Larter and Beyoncé Knowles. These two fighters, playing a cat and mouse game, made it very realistic. The story was very much like Fatal Attraction, but still a fairly good idea. The visuals were really good, the camera angles and just how it was shot was just brilliant. Even the office looked absolutely beautiful and colorful.
This is not a movie for everybody, but for those who like either thrillers that make you think or a huge cat fight for the last 15 minutes, this is for you. It may not be really violent, but it is extremely entertaining. Overall, a pretty good movie that is worth going to the theaters to see.
