...can't be beaten.

The city of Port Royal is attacked by a crew of undead pirates that are searching for a lost treasure. It is suspected that some may be kept by the governor's daughter, Elizabeth (Knightley). Captain Barbossa (Rush) and his fellow pirates set sail with their new hostage to sacrifice her in their secret hideaway. Only when her blood has been shed over the treasure can their curse be lifted. Will Turner(Bloom) encounters an eccentric pirate (Depp) who helps him steal a British vessel and assemble a rough-around-the-edges crew. After acquiring a ship capable of catching the Black Pearl, they set sail to save Will's childhood friend with the British Military following closely behind.

Okay, so this may sound like any other pirate movie(however many there actually are). There is a BIG difference though. This one doesn't suck. Pirates has a beautifully woven plot and the dialogue is 100% original. As far as modern action movies go it can't be beaten. Unless you are including the sequel. Most of everyone has watched this film at least once, but for those of you who haven't(*crickets*) I highly recommend that you rent this instead of wasting your money going to see Spidey 3.

Norbit (2007)

...it will be resting on my movie shelf...

Eddie Murphy's laugh out loud movie is arriving in stores within just a few weeks. So, I thought I would let you know how I feel about it. First of all, if you don't like a man with a fat-suit, you must enjoy hurting puppies in your spare time. Seriously, how could you go wrong with Eddie Murphy in a fat-suit?

Norbit is the story of a boy who grows up at the Goldon Wonton Restaurant and Orphanage where he meets his dream girl. Eventually, she gets adopted by loving parents and Norbit is left by himself. Years later they find each other again, but their relationship is strained by her husband-to-be and Norbit's new wife Rasputia.

Most of the movie is spent with Rasputia destroying things or running around town in tight pink outfits or undersized bathing suits. I see nothing wrong with that though. It may be cheap, but it brings a smile to my face and I assure you it will be resting on my movie shelf on June fifth. If you enjoy the Madea films then you know what to expect.

Major League (1989)

...washed up...

Major League

The new owner of the Cleveland Indians decides to try and make them suck so that she can move the team to a more profitable city. Former pros, a voodoo master, former prisoner, and a few minor league players get together and form a rag tag baseball team. Luckily, the movie is held up (for a while at least) by its "interesting" characters.

At the time of filming the idea of turning a mismatched team into a success story wasn't so washed up. In the twenty first century though, there have been dozens upon dozens of films that illustrate the same point with different actors. The movie seems longer than what it is and even Sheen can't keep you interested for long.

My Rating = Two Stars
