The Web Poetry Corner - Thomas Leatherbarrow - Scars

Scars

by

Thomas Leatherbarrow

I wear my scars
Wear them with pride
To the world
I will not hide

There not always present on my skin
For most of them are held within
that’s not to say that they don’t hurt
Infact sometimes they’re the worst

When people see them
They stop and stare
Because they cannot picture
themselves being there

Being at "the edge of sanity"
Thinking it’s a cry for help its just a plea
But its not, its different
Why cant you see?

Life is easy or so you think
Go out and laugh and have a drink
being the person who is care free
But to have a life of pain and worry?

When your in your teens you should have fun
And not contemplate using that gun
Not be so scared that what you’ve ate
Will make you closer to what you hate

When we cut we don’t want you to see
don’t want to share our misery
We do it away from all of eyes
The release we gain makes us feel alive

And for that moment we are free
Free of the pain that stalks me
The evil in my life has become a pink little scar
For people to wonder what you are?

I alone know what you did
And in my scar is where you’ll be hid
A reminder that my past will always be there
I just look down I just have to stare

So you starve and cut and give up hope
Sit in your room and bind your rope
Take your blade out of your phone
And cut and slash_

You're not alone

NEXT?
Why don't you look at The parting
