The Web Poetry Corner - Thomas Leatherbarrow - Death

Death

by

Thomas Leatherbarrow

when you see them lying still
you know that they will never feel

never again feel love or pain
to them now everything’s just the same
they’ll never have things in their heads
that keeps them awake alone in bed

they’ll never feel a warm touch
the one they longed after for so much
they’ll never feel the bitter sting
the one of losing everything

for they are gone and some have cried
They’ve crossed over to the other side
were nothing is all that they will chase
and they’ll never see another face

never see one of beauty and pride
they do not know for they have died
so don’t wear that look upon your face
death is something that we should embrace

it takes away all the bad
what it will do is make us glad
glad that we have to no longer care
they do not have to sit and stare

so look at me
what do you see

am I dead while still alive
can anyone say they really tried
am I like a corpse you see
for that is what I want to be

I envy them I really do
They really don’t have a clue
they do not have a single care
oh how I wish that I was there
