The Web Poetry Corner - T. J. Daniels - ''DON'T SPIT IN THE WIND''
''DON'T SPIT IN THE WIND''
by
T. J. Daniels
'Cause if you do
then it's your own fault
if you get wet.
I hear many people complain
about how hard life is.
It's common knowledge
that if you play with fire
you'll get burned.
But too many people
walk around with their heart
in their hand
almost daring someone to come
along and take it.
And if it's out there too far
someone will take it
use it and abuse it.
Then you cry
because you were hurt.
Take more pride in yourself.
You may be worth more than you think.
But if you don't think you're worth much
no one else will.
