Your Photograph
by
Sunnyone
Your eyes are full of longing,
and I see need hiding there_
Your lips are smiling gently_
They are whispering that you care_
I know that when we meet,
we’ll live, we’ll love, and how we’ll laugh_
But I’ll still love you,
in Your Photograph_
It’s just a piece of glossy paper,
measuring eight by ten_
It came from miles away,
and it is dated: "don’t know when"_
That doesn’t really matter,
and I hope that you can see_
Your Photograph,
is now a part of me_
It greets me every morning,
and it helps me come alive_
And benefits from it,
throughout my day, I can derive_
It gives my mind a great escape,
when life won’t go my way_
Your Photograph,
is in my life to stay_
And now I’m looking at it,
after asking if you care,
enough to have me cross you mind,
while love with her you share_
The answer cut me to the bone,
much sharper, than a knife_
Your Photograph,
is all that’s in my life_
Old habits can be broken,
same is true for older hearts_
I know I need to give you up,
but don’t know where to start_
I stare into Your Photograph,
I’ve cherished, through the years_
And now your smile is stained,
by lonely tears_
Today, I put Your Photograph away,
so I can’t see_
The face I’ve come to love,
that takes the breath away from me_
Then someday, when my soul has healed,
and doesn’t hurt to laugh_
I’ll gaze once more,
upon Your Photograph_
