Where Are You?

by

Sunnyone

You said that you would be there...
about a zillion times since we’ve met...
Oh, sure...if I needed you...I need only call out...
You would have that shoulder ready,
kleenex in hand for hard times...
Or just your hand to hold...

I thought I could count on you...
Your name was like a smile on my ICQ alert...
And when we really connected,
it felt so damned good...meant to be and all that...
the possibilities loomed ahead of us,
and you showed up in my dreams at night...

I was here for you...
When you almost lost your job, who did you first tell?
Me, of course...not even needing to ask if I would listen...
When you had fights at home, where did you turn?
Why...here to me, of course...knowing I wouldn’t nag,
wouldn’t yell...I would just...be there...

Now I need you...
You’re nowhere to be found in the cyber world,
or the real one, for that matter!
I need assurance, I need tenderness, I need YOU...
So where are you, my fairweather friend?
Do you only seek me when it’s your need to be filled?
Or will you join me in the rain?
