The Jelly Bean Conspiracy
by
Sunnyone
If you’re reading this, and you are a diabetic,
please be sure to read my note to you,
at the end of this poem.
( I’ve got the blues )
from the pinks, and the greens,
and the yellows, and the blacks,
not to mention all those luscious-looking
lavenders!
Those bright colors grab my eye...
Make it hard to deny...
That my fingers itch to be the guilty
gatherers!
( I must resist )
turn my back...walk away...
from the stack....but I stay...
And soon they’ll have me,
at the checkout stand...
Look around...all I see...
Is a great conspiracy...
Jelly beans...
looks like this thing was planned!
( I’m checking out )
I can’t stand anymore...
l’m addicted...where’s the door?
And why are all these beans here,
anyway?
It’s a joke...it’s pathetic...
Can’t eat just one...I’m diabetic...
But I know I ate my share...
in younger days...
( Still got the blues )
I can leave...I’m all through...
To myself...I’ve been true...
But wait!...something is calling
out to me...
Jelly beans...rainbow hues...
One bag left...and I can’t lose...
For every bean inside is
‘sugar-free’!
There are 16 million diabetics in the U.S. alone. Someday there will be a cure, but for now, there is support. If you need this support, I highly recommend the site. It is new, it is warm, friendly and comfortable. It is maintained by and for diabetics.
