The Web Poetry Corner - Sunnyone - In the Land Between Here and There

In the Land Between Here and There

by

Sunnyone

Once upon a time...
In the land between Here and There...
Lived a beautiful fairy princess...
A maiden so gentle and fair...

Her golden hair hung long and shone,
like the stars on a winter's night...
Her eyes were green, but never had seen,
for the princess was born without sight...

A witch had cursed the King and Queen,
and all of their children, to be...
"If I can't have your Kingdom", she cried,
"then none of your children will see!"

So the princess grew to a maiden_
She played in the forest and dell...
And even though her eyes couldn't see,
by touch, the path she could tell...

She heard, one day, music so lovely,
her fairy wings wanted to fly_
But the sound just beckoned her nearer, and nearer,
no matter how hard that she tried...

She came upon a grassy knoll,
and knew someone was there...
And even though she couldn't see,
she felt the stranger's stare...

"Oh, tell me who you are", said she,
as the music, it started to play...
"The tune is like magic to my ears",
he heard the princess say...

He stopped for a moment to answer,
then looked at her face so kind...
In just one look the prince could tell,
that the beautiful princess was blind_

"I've come to fulfill a promise...
I've come to undo evil deeds...
For every curse, there is a cure,
my love will take care of your needs..."

He reached out his hand to the princess...
She felt it and gladly took hold..
He drew her near and on her lips,
put a kiss with such promise untold...

She opened her eyes in an instant,
to see a world shiny and new...
To look on the face of the handsome prince,
and into his heart so true...

The world is still full of fair maidens,
and many a prince in disguise...
But the one sweet kiss that he'll place on your lips,
is the one that will open your eyes......
