Futile Thoughts Aside

by

Sunnyone

Nothing would be left if you were gone...
There wouldn’t be enough of me,
to keep on keeping on...
I know all this, but I can’t quit...
I see the futile depths of it...
But, still...
I’m lost within a maze of dreams...
And well aware how futile this all seems...

But futile though it looks,
my heart says try...
To climb the mountains, swim the seas,
then spread my wings and fly...
I cry...I ache...and so I write...
I try to never dream at night...
I wake to find you in my mind, at dawn...
This futile love helps me to carry on...

And is it futile...or is there some chance?
That someday you will come to me,
and teach my heart to dance?
Yes, in my mind that dream repeats...
Our love is joined, our spirits meet...
and for that moment,
I can only pray...
Let love’s futility just melt away...

I know you let my being cross your mind...
The love you send back to this heart,
spans over space and time...
Although, it seems a futile bliss,
to have your love in ways like this...
I can’t let go...
It’s futile that I try...
My lips shall never say the words...
"Goodbye"
