The Web Poetry Corner - Sunnyone - Cabin Fever

Cabin Fever

by

Sunnyone

Winter’s late-night icy fingers
slap my window pane...
Peaceful night time stillness is
destroyed by pounding rain...
Holed up here, inside these walls,
could drive someone insane...
My mind is making me a true believer...
I think I’ve fallen prey to cabin fever!

Funny, but these walls have never
cramped my style before...
But, still...I have no slight desire
to venture out my door...
And nothing here inside can hold
my interest anymore...
The only friend I have is my retriever...
I wonder if he, too, has cabin fever...

So, here we sit, just me and hound,
and watch the storm unfold...
And watch the pictures flashing,
from tv’s remote control...
It takes me to a beach where
no one there looks very cold...
We watch the tube...a marvelous deceiver...
Man’s temporary cure for cabin fever!
