The Web Poetry Corner - Stephen Cree - Toothache

Toothache

by

Stephen Cree

You hoped for sunshine
I hoped for rain
They hoped we'd get back together again
You go to nightclubs
I read my books
Me with my glasses and you with your looks
I wanted Beatles
You wanted Prince
The CD and tape deck have played silence since
I'm a left winger
You're centre right
You go with the flow when I'm ready to fight
We are dull toothache
We know the cure
And so we disolve and our union's no more.
