The Web Poetry Corner - Stephan Hovell - Edge-O-The Ruck

Edge-O-The Ruck

by

Stephan Hovell

Sports do not come tougher,
than a game called Rugby-league,
it`s beautifully simplistic,
but must be played at speed.

It`s not a game of beg you pardons,
you`ll get the big "Don`t Argue",
it takes a gentleman all the same,
so tell me something,Are you ?

The Aussies are the best at it,
it`s hard to say who`s next,
maybe England maybe us,
but a "Roo"is tough when flexed.

I`m a kiwi from New Zealand,
so I support our team,
I still pay the Aussies due,
the more well oiled machine.

They play with passion unrefined,
and they will find you out,
though I back us every time,
it`s wagering with doubt.

It`s inter-Tasmin rivalry,
they come so hard and keen,
we`ve had our wins against them,
though few and far between.

There liveing legends in the game,
"The Axe","The Mule","Cement",
"The Suicide Blonde"any of theses guys,
can make a side lament.

They come to hurt you,it`s a fact,
and they`re the team to beat,
makes you cry to take their scalp,
for it is no mean feat.

NEXT?
Why don't you look at ONLY AND WHEN
