The Web Poetry Corner - Sherene Delgado - Why not me?

Why not me?

by

Sherene Delgado

I wait every day to see that smile
To be near you
To see your face
Some say your plain
To me ...you’re the world
You’re in my every thought
My every dream
You’re all I’ve ever wanted
But could never have
I feel your presence all around me
I know I shouldn't but I do
It pains me to be close
Knowing I can never have you
You’ll never see me the way I see you
I ask myself constantly
"Why not me"
No one will ever love you more then I do
Just one touch from you is all I crave
It’s all I’ve ever wished for
Yet you'll never know
I’ll never tell you
The risk of losing your friendship is too great
Tomorrow is a new day
But for me it will be the same as all the others
Another day without you near me
Another day without your love
Though I can't have you I wish you the best
I just hope that one day you'll realize the best was right in front of you
Me
