The Web Poetry Corner - Sherene Delgado - Foolish

Foolish

by

Sherene Delgado

Look what you've done to me
You’ve made me what I have never wanted to be
Weak, naive, even foolish
How do you do this to me?
Why do I let you?
I sit back
I wait
Hoping things will change
But as the time ticks away
I know it is a dream that will never come true
Yet your brown eyes tell me you care
And I fall into the same trap all over again.
This foolish game I allow you to play with my heart
Never knowing how or when did it start
When did I let you get the best of me?
You take and take until there is nothing left of me
You leave with your smile
I leave with my tears
You leave with my heart
I'm left with my fears
