The Web Poetry Corner - Satish Kakri - World

World

by

Satish Kakri

What is this world?
What is it made of?
Mankind? Or the earth?
Or the efforts of humans,
Habitable for the earth?

Does it belong to the rich?
Or to the poor?
Who and what makes most contributions to its being?
Or does the world belong to all,
Rich and poor, White and Black,
Yellow and Brown?

Everything in this world is subjected to change
Some occur early, others have longer range.

Nature seems to give opportunity to all
Some seize it to run fast, while others fall.

So say our sages
In generations six or seven
Rich become poor and poor enjoy heaven.

So also with nations!
Change has a cycle of
Three to four centuries.
