The Web Poetry Corner - Samantha M Jones - The face at the window

The face at the window

by

Samantha M Jones

See the face at the window
With a sadness in her eyes
Watch her follow every movement
Of the clouds across the skies
It looks as if she's searching
For a dream that cannot be
Just longing to escape
And like the birds...fly free
Alas she's caught up in her pain
See it etched upon her face
Staring out with haunting eyes
Gazing in to space
Why does she look familiar
Her reflection I can see
I look again through that window
And the haunted face is me
