The Web Poetry Corner - Samantha M Jones - Off in my coffin

Off in my coffin

by

Samantha M Jones

I wheeze and I cough through no fault of my own
So you think I'm a misery 'cause each day I moan
But my lungs cannot take any further abuse
From some absolute strangers, oh hell what's the use
My pleas seem they just seem to fall on deaf ears
Don't wanna die youg...gissa couple more years
You don't seem to care as you light up that fag
With that filthy addiction, you're becoming a drag
Try stubbing it out, make an effort today
If you care for your friends, throw the buggers away
After all said and done cancer sticks are no fun
When you're not the smoker and the damage is done
Still most smokers laugh, but carry on scoffin'
Would you laugh quite so loud when I'm off in my coffin
