The Web Poetry Corner - Samantha M Jones - Lively Lil

Lively Lil

by

Samantha M Jones

Sitting on the bench at night watching passers by
Some of them would make her laugh, others make her cry
Watching as they hurried home exhausted by the day
Some were happy, others sad as they passed by her way
Longing to confide in them but they would never know
The loneliness she felt and the fear she could not show
They knew her just as Lively Lil, a joke for all to share
How could she let them know she wanted somebody to care
Sighing sadly to herself as the moon descended low
Curled up tightly on the bench, for she had nowhere else to go.
