The Web Poetry Corner - Samantha M Jones - Half a ton

Half a ton

by

Samantha M Jones

I'm fifty and petrified in fact I am aghast
The very thought of your future
Being a helluva lot less than your past
A zimmer frame you can picture
Crutches by the door
Meals on wheels are delivered
'cause you cannot cook no more
Least dimentia's not quite set in
I can still remember to write verse
Could be wearing a wooden overcoat
Now that'd be a damn sight worse
