The Web Poetry Corner - Robert Cameron Hazelton - Homeless & Hopeless

Homeless & Hopeless

by

Robert Cameron Hazelton

Bureaucratic banality
And reams of red tape
Have left us with very few
Chances to shape
A future that mirrors
The freedom dream;
Instead it’s more tape,
Care for another ream?

Astronomical expenses,
Growing taxes and debts
Leave many people wanting
Things everyone should get.
Yet the wealthy in their towers
Take all they can,
Flaunting their good fortune
Before the common man.

Some form of protest
Must be in the making,
For everyone cannot have a share
If the privileged keep taking.
A line must be drawn,
There’s got to be a better way.
Remember, the rebellion of tomorrow
Starts with inequality today.
