Decrepit Throne
by
Robert Cameron Hazelton
I tried to imagine the vagrant monarch
That would sit upon such a decrepit throne
Cracked and torn imitation leather
Weather faded wooden bones
Adrift among a sea of windswept weeds
On a street corner, standing all alone
My mind’s eye can see him holding court
Benignly ruling a land all his own.
