The Web Poetry Corner - Rick Bandy - War of Independence

War of Independence

by

Rick Bandy

Walk the ground we've walked before
It all sounds too familiar to me
Your reasons don't stand by themselves
They're propped up by hyperbole
and countless repititions.

Well I this moment understand
That just before the darkness falls
My wounds bound up, it's time to go
My War of Independence calls
Ignore the superstitions.
