The Web Poetry Corner - Richard James Van Der Draaij - You
You
by
Richard James Van Der Draaij
So many years I lived alone,
Allowed my strange and wayward heart
To slowly turn to stone,
You came back into this life of mine,
Tore the walls of solitude apart,
And presented me with a sign-
-Of your immens love for little ole me,
Delivering a sense of joy and bliss,
A future bright I could not before see,
You are love and life, and love is this:
To see you dream of pleasant things,
You answering the phone when a friend rings,
See you come into the door,
Hear you ask for more,
More of my love for you, more of me,
I am so happy here, with you, in love and free,
Unexpected happiness comes over me,
When I wake up and it's you I see,
Smiling, yawning once more, and then-
-A gentle little kiss, an embrace,
I love to see your pretty face,
Lying there happy, next to me.
