Summer Lake
by
Richard James Van Der Draaij
I sat a while by a Summer lake,
Where there was genuine peace to be found,
And listened to the world out there,
There were birds flying about, squeeking,
A lovely dragonfly hovered over the waters rippling,
Unseen frogs kept bellowing their weird sounds,
The green of the trees, the freshness in the air,
It made me feel like youth again,
It made me think of a thousand different things,
But I could not focus, just daydreaming,
Dreaming the day away,
Dreaming,
Today.
