The Web Poetry Corner - Richard James Van Der Draaij - Sleep

Sleep

by

Richard James Van Der Draaij

Nine waves came rolling down,
The King had lost his crown,
The rivers running wild,
A lost and crying child,
A window in a storm,
A strange and vague new form,
Thoughts slip out of reach,
A lesson learned to teach,
A nightmare,dark and cold,
A secret never told,
The rain upon some roof,
A horse's scraping hoof,
The grass with tiny drops,
The heart an instant stops,
And mildly comes to mind,
An experience so kind,
That it made all things well,
Now nothing left to tell,
I turn and fall asleep.
