The Web Poetry Corner - Richard James Van Der Draaij - Phosphorous

Phosphorous

by

Richard James Van Der Draaij

Oh Phosphorous, thy beauty's name,
Bold and brilliant, bright and red,
Thine ancient titles still the same,
Curiously old and wise,
Capable of great surprise,
A silence after all's been said.

The Morningstar when stars have gone,
A twist in lapsing time,
The breaking of a final dawn,
Knowledge, pure and crystal clear,
Incarnated mortal fear,
Mountains left to climb?

Adversity, an awkward friend,
The rope untying rope,
A flash and then unending end,
My best companion ever,
My bonds are here to sever,
And up the creeping slope.
