The Web Poetry Corner - Richard James Van Der Draaij - Ode to my Demon Lover

Ode to my Demon Lover

by

Richard James Van Der Draaij

Shaping, shifting, deep dark, blue
Lethal, fatal, like some shark
Moving upward gracefully
Perhaps to drag me down
Feminine ferocity, dressed in pleasant curves
Eyes which hold my history
Know me, see and feel
Envious of the human state perchance

I see a charm that overwhelms me
Unexpected sounds
Overhead: a vacancy
A private, gentle hope

Letting go in quietude
Experiencing what?
The message seems ridiculous
And therefore may be true

Life is all there is in here
And everything here IS
A spirit of the netherworld
Rose up to steal my heart.
