The Web Poetry Corner - Richard James Van Der Draaij - Image

Richard James Van Der Draaij

Stark, the image sticks
in a mind frozen in time.
Silently a picture moves
in and out of my mind:
a knife-edge on a hilltop.
Am I still dreaming aloud?
Sound and vision intermixe,
dangle and intertwine.
A strange old voice from nowhere near,
comes closer only to disappear.
I wish for this to stay by my side,
forever there when I need to hide.
Drops of Summer rain pervade
everything in sight.
Still the morning warns us now
take care but be not afraid.
Those who lost and those who strayed
Reunite in this simple image:
A brook, a gentle stream
leading to the generous sea.
