The Web Poetry Corner - Richard James Van Der Draaij - Butterfly
Butterfly
by
Richard James Van Der Draaij
On the station, on a dreary deadly morning,
Creepy commuters crawl,
Edgy, weary, unwilling to work today.
Listening to the things some of them say-
-I suddenly notice a fluttering by,
Of a wonderful cheery butterfly;
Gold-tipped wings, floating in and out,
Of my misty morning mind.
In its presence is all that I would find,
In life and love and feeling light-
-Hearted, free and easy.
Somehow strengthened, I board the train,
Off to work and happy once again.
