The Web Poetry Corner - Richard Betts Jr. - Play
Play
by
Richard Betts Jr.
The little boy pleaded,
"Daddy, will you please play with me?"
But the man just waved his hand and said,
"Can't you see, I'm trying to watch TV."
So the little boy went outside to play
And found a gun lying on the ground.
And when he pulled the trigger,
The father heard the sound.
The boy fell to the ground;
His blood pumped and pulsed into the air.
And the father finally screamed,
"If I only would have gotten out of my chair!"
