The Web Poetry Corner - Richard Betts Jr. - Clock
Clock
by
Richard Betts Jr.
Tick-tock beats my life's clock,
Counting the passing time away.
Tick-tock run the grains of sand,
Running through my outstretched hands.
Tick-tock march the hours away,
The hours of my youthful days.
When days were plentiful and so carefree.
Now, I watch them pass - grudgingly.
Tick-tock my clock has slowed,
An inevitable result of my growing old.
As I reach out with my aged hand,
I realize . . . I am out of sand.
