Looking Beyond the Pretty Pebbles of one#s Island

Others' action are like the waves and foam on the ocean
which quickly disappear,
their lives like floating islands tossed by the waves.
Our actions must be like a deep current
bringing up an eternal; continent
of united stable humanity,
We crush the angry waves of the ocean with our compassion,
purifying the water
till we see the smooth mirror of Buddhism
in which everything is clearly reflected
by the shining gold we now see
at the bottom of our lives.
Let us make even the tiniest pebble that
we cast into the smooth lake - no, ocean of Buddhism
reaching into the depth of life
WHETHER RESEMBLING DIAMOND OR ROCK
on that will cause a ripple spreading
bigger and bigger
ETERNALLY.
Then what if we plunge in with our whole lives?...
