Combatting Global Warming
Philip Claude Andermann
Will the world end
or in ice?
Robert Frost asked.
Passion of youth burns
desire burns seeking to transform this cold world
to create new life
[new cosmos in the other]
flooding the world with tenderness
seeking lust transfused to learn from the cold
not just flooding the world with people
so the world catches fire
and ends burning itself to ice
the truest love tragedy
a population bomb
of brutal lust
which could yield the fatal world winter of the nuclear bomb
as could global warming caused by this population through ignorance, greed, distrust and paralysis.
I must learn to speak
as if I were a child
speak out for the children of the future
they must not burn to ice
winter turns only to spring.
I pray desperately for wisdom
courage to share even the single phrase of truth
to quench the infinite inner thirst.
