Earth From the ISS

by

Philip Claude Andermann

Seeing the beauty of our one planet,
how could one ever think of wars?

Seeing the beauty and laws of the distant stars:
unafraid, one thinks of the vast beauty and moral laws within.

To just worship science and technology
is to pollute and betray its spirit of true genius,
the poetry of life and reverence which gave it genii birth.

Science must serve the people and all life,

and then our planet will not just be an eye for the cosmos to see its own beauty,
but also fractally each life kaleidocopically ubiquitous
may evolve to be revealed to possess more value

than all the scattered treasures of the multi-verse,
revealing in its conduct the conductor of all the symphony...
within.

[When I was a young child in Australia, I was so fascinated by astronomy and what a tiny speck in the cosmos our pebble was, and how we must travel to the moon, the planets, the stars as soon as possible! I followed all the space attempts. I lay on the ground and seemed to fall into the Milky Way. There was life up there everywhere! I could not imagine all the great truths, different mathematics, different love, and richness of discoveries and civilizations waiting out there - intelligences that thought in such different ways in utterly different bodies and brains or in something we could not yet conceive of and would wish we could hug. Yes, I fell into the sky, I fell so deeply in love! I wondered what was the name of what I felt?!... It was Nam-myoho-renge-kyo.
