WHAT FUN!

"WHAT FUN!"
I woke up in the morning
to the smell of toast a-burning.
Do you know what I thought?
"If I don't go to school
I'm going to get caught.
Oh, what a way to start!"
I LOVE school, so I put on my shirt,
now grown so tiny that it hurt.
I ate my toast, that had continued to burn,
raced into the bathroom when it was my turn,
saw the clock and the way things were,
told my mother how much I loved her,
talked and told my sister
just how much I'd missed her,
and I almost missed the bus, but now I was off.
The day woold be rough, but I was tough.
I got to school on time, and I wanted to shout,
"Yes, learning is fun and what life's all about."
It's the start of a school year.
There is so much to learn, and so much to share.
