THE LIVING VEHICLE OF POETRY
by
Philip Claude Andermann
Poetry waits to be embraced by voice and listeners.
Each word lives and reproduces in another's being..
Poetry's light dances in echoes up our hope mountains
to star everyone's night.
Poetry is a country of song
where the only arms
are round others' shoulders.
It is the shoulder for tears and kisses.
It moves hands to make tools out of love,
food out of earth's sensuality,
and play music to feed love.
People clap each other
using the other's hand.
They willingly climb the trees
in the leaves of others' hands
in dancing forest of democracy.
Poetry paints invisible hope
with the brush of voice feeling.
It feeds the illiterate child
with literature of memories.
It contains history,
and can birth the future.
It is the Greater Vehicle.
