The Web Poetry Corner - Philip Claude Andermann - Burning
Burning
by
Philip Claude Andermann
I seem to have swallowed the world,
Even the distant skies, the darkest corners,
The happiest smile, the unseen tear,
Soaking it live into every cell of my mind and body.
Do they know how it feels
To have swallowed the sun?
I hear oceans of applause, leaves of fall:
You now resonate the deepest keyboard
Of grandest forests of capable lives.
But do you know why
Like the sun
I need fresh skies to cover?...
If I must say good bye,
It is to grow new forests
Again covering the skies.
Do you know how it feels
To have swallowed the sun?
To be covered by sky?
