You and I, Two Wings
by
Philip Claude Andermann
Life has no meaning
unless we attain world peace everting self-destruction,
which seems impossible.
We stand at the edge of a precipice -
but find we have wings!
There are terrible and glorious mountains ahead.
They all emerge from the earth.
We have wings not because we are angels.
But because we find infinite meaning in each other,
and thus ourselves.
We have vowed a ceremony in the air, the heart.
Each tiniest step through the dirt
reveals therein the jewels
of an arisen inner tower-mountain
opening its wings,
raising peace.
