Mirrors Through Friendship
Philip Claude Andermann
Evwn though people may polish their face,
they tend to neglect to polish their lives.
While they quietly wash off a stain from their face,
they remain unconcerned about stains in their lives.
Still, we see the stains in others' lives.
Let us compassionately provide a mirror for them
in their religious practice and in our friendship.
We help take the stains off them and ourselves
through our interactive practice.
Our mentor provides a mirror of what would could be,
and encourages us to use the mirror of practice
to get there.
This is the way we become united in friendship.
Let there be no more reason
for stains of tears of suffering,
only for tears of joy of genuine friendship!
