Freed by Slave Days
by
Philip Claude Andermann
Licorice voice,
Child woman sweet
But stinging with sincerity,
Intoxicating perfume...
Baiting for bears,
Seductive brown shiver of shy honey,
Belying inner light dance
Stinging tears with joy.
Awaken...
Jewelled chandelier,
Swinging planetarium
Of awe round the disco floor:
The celestial collisions of jazz.
This bear must dance,
At first chained
But then freed...
I need but listen to my heart.
Beyond the child
Beyond the collisions,
Scaling
Beyond all people's limits
A deep instrument speaks.
