Salvador Dali Skies
by
Phil Pochurek
The lake was pea soup green
The sky was diamond blue.
The contrast was pristine
The temperature eighty-two.
And off in the distance
Smoke signal clouds floated by
While over head morning vapor trails
Were feather dusting the sky.
The lake was smooth as glass
Reflecting like a mirror.
The dragonflies were swarming
In perfect chaos everywhere.
Until the wind started blowing
A little strong for the flies
I wished that I had my camera
For Salvador Dali skies.
I should have seen it coming
Thunder boomers were everywhere
The sunset skies were flaming
Clouds were on fire in the air.
They melted over the mountains
And colored the trees on the ground.
The sky was ripe for lightning
The smell of electricity was all around.
I wish that he could have seen it
With his magically artistic eyes
Only his paintbrush could do justice
To O’dells Salvador Dali skies.
If he were alive to see it
The mountain splendor of O’dell Lake.
With his surrealistic vision
There could be no mistake, no surprise,
He would have painted O’dell Lake
With Salvador Dali skies.
