The Web Poetry Corner - Pafu - The Jewel Case

The Jewel Case

by

Pafu

Was it then simple?
No, one would say,
For he was but one,
And they were many.

But one man who serves
His One Master well,
Can still defeat all
Those who have failed.

So Jesu just threw
The glove in their face,
And called them all out
To fight in their way.

Just two among them
Had ever been saviors,
Moses had lead them
And David stood brave.

But now the foe was
The corrupters of Truth.
"Vipers" he called them,
"Hypocrites," and fools.

They trembled in rage,
And planned to have slain
This great democrat
With crowds at his back.

The warrior then came
To play in their game;
The one they knew best:
The one they professed.

It was a duel,
So a second he chose:
The witness called John,
To write down their words.

But their verbal assaults
All came to nought;
Their questions were traps,
But he answered each one.

So gracious the touch
Of the Master of Love,
Giving jewels for free
To his poor 'enemies.'

And never had ever
A man with such ease
Destroyed ignorance
By just being free.

They knew they had lost
And ruined the rest;
"We win or won't play"
We all know the brats.

But the record survived
For that was the pact.
He knew a small light
Could vanquish the night.

"I could have done more"
His real agony;
Then thanks to the Father
For humanity freed.

(then he fell asleep)
