The Web Poetry Corner - Pafu - The Buddha

The Buddha

by

Pafu

He was the one who knew
The thorns on all that grows
Men's lives by thoughts torn
Urgent distraction, never atoned.

Desire aside and suffering
The calm sunrise inside him
There was no I or need for
Separation and its seeming

But old questions slowed him
On the straight road to nirvana
The sightless eyes of lepers
The darkened lives of others.

Can he help us then to see
We are already enlightened?
Behind the joined eyebrows
He awaits our now awareness.
